About Us
We Did Not Start a Brand. We Started a Conversation.
It began with a simple question: why does something so deeply Indian feel so hard to find at its best? Handcrafted juttis and clutches have been part of the subcontinent's wardrobe for centuries. They have sat at the centre of wedding rituals, festive celebrations, and everyday grace. And yet, somewhere along the way, this craft started to fade into the background.
At Rifaaqatt, we refused to let that happen. What started as a personal obsession with the beauty of threadwork and the quiet confidence of well-made footwear became, over time, a studio and a story. Today, from its roots in Jalandhar, Punjab, Rifaaqatt sends handcrafted juttis and vintage clutches to women across India and beyond. But the heart of what we do has never really changed.
We make things by hand because we believe hands remember things machines cannot.
| "Rifaaqatt" means companionship. Every piece we create is meant to accompany you, not just complete your outfit, but carry a little of India's craft legacy with you, wherever you go. |
About the Founder
The woman behind Rifaaqatt grew up surrounded by the colours and textures of Punjab. Family weddings, festival mornings, the gleam of juttis worn by the women she admired most. That visual language stayed with her long after the occasions passed.
When she began designing, it was not because she had studied fashion or interned at a luxury house. It was because she had seen, firsthand, how a beautifully made pair of juttis could transform the way a woman carries herself. That quiet power of craft was what she wanted to bottle and share.
Her first collection was small and personal. A handful of designs, each one obsessively refined until the threadwork sat right, the leather breathed correctly, and the silhouette had that balance between old-world charm and something wearable today. Friends wore them. Strangers noticed. Orders followed.
What she had built was not just a product. It was a point of view. Explore our juttis collection to see where that vision began.

Her Design Philosophy "I do not design for trends. I design for memory. I want a woman to pick up a Rifaaqatt piece ten years from now and feel the same thing she felt the first time she held it. That is the test I hold every design to." |
Today, Rifaaqatt is more than a studio. It is a quiet rebellion against the disposable and the mass-produced. Every jutti that leaves our hands has been touched multiple times by skilled artisans who have spent years learning the particular grammar of their craft. Every clutch begins as an idea and becomes, through patience and precision, something that earns its place in a woman's wardrobe.
The founder still works closely with every collection. She still holds each piece up to the light. She still believes the details are the whole point.
What Rifaaqatt Stands For?
We are not the loudest voice in the room. We have never chased volume over care, or speed over quality. Our community of loyal customers, many of whom return season after season, grew not through campaigns but through word of mouth. One woman shows another. A bridal pair photographed at a wedding becomes the reason ten more brides reach out to us.
That kind of trust takes time to build, and we have built it carefully.
At Rifaaqatt, every purchase is a vote for slow making, for craft that has survived centuries because it deserves to, and for the artisan whose hands make the whole thing possible. When you choose us, you are not just buying a jutti or a clutch. You are choosing to be part of a story that goes back much further than us, and one we hope continues long after. Explore our vintage clutches collection to find the piece that carries that story with you.
We ship freely across India. We answer every question. And we pour the same care into the first order we ever received as the thousandth. That is the Rifaaqatt promise.
